Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Transfer Student Center review my transcripts and tell me if I’m on the right track for getting admitted?

No, our office does not process nor certify student transcripts. It is best to review your transcripts with an academic advisor from your current college or to set up an appointment with a UCI Transfer Admissions counselor through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Can the Transfer Student Center give me an update on my UCI transfer application?

No, the TSC does not review applications nor manage the admissions process. You may use your UCI applicant portal to request and monitor status updates.

Can I change my major at UCI from the one I listed on my UC application?

Typically, you are unable to make changes to your major during the admission decision period. Transfer students may contact an admissions counselor using their UCI applicant portal to communicate any changes.

Will any changes to my coursework impact my admission decision?

It depends. Each school has its own policies on eligible transferrable coursework. Prior to making changes, discuss your concerns with an academic adviser from your current college. You may also contact an admissions counselor through your UCI applicant portal.

Academic advising questions:

Who can help me choose my classes?

Each student is assigned an academic adviser within their school of major. You can review the list of undergraduate departments to locate your program’s academic advising office. Can the Transfer Student Center help me if I’m having trouble reaching someone from my academic advising team?

Yes. However, please keep in mind that academic advisers handle large caseloads and are often resolving student inquiries in the order they are received. We ask that you first try sending a follow up email if you do not hear back within a few business days.
